Prayer Email archive:
        (08/17/2002) key to success

Hello prayer warriors,

Please note: if you receive an email supposedly from
me (waihun@mydevotion.com, or waihuns@yahoo.com or
info@mydevotion.com)
with an attachment, it is not
from ME. So, please don't open it. There is a virus
going around which picks up email addresses on an
infected PC and sends out emails to other people using
the email address which was picked up. It's called
E.Klez. The virus even sends messages purported to
clean your computer of the virus. Again: I don't send
emails with attachments. I only send simple text
messages because it is the safest!

1. Prayer note:

[Psalm 1:1-3]
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the
counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of
sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in
his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers
of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he
doeth shall prosper.

I just picked up my Good News bible and read this
psalm again two nights ago. It says (Good News
version)

[Psalm 1:3]
They are like trees that grow beside a stream, that
bear fruit at the right time, and whose leaves do not
dry up. They SUCCEED in EVERYTHING they do.

Wow ... What is one of the keys of this success? I
believe we can find it in verse 2, by delighting and
meditating on His Word.

His Word gives life. His Word sustains. I can
understand why the analogy of us being like trees
planted by rivers of water. His Word is the water of
life and His Word helps us weather every storm and
circumstance in our lives.

I'm listening to a tape by John Hagee now and it is
interesting to note that when Jesus asked his
disciples to go into a boat in [Matthew 22] to cross
over to the other side after the miracle of the five
loaves and two fishes, He knew that they were going to
face one of the worst storms in their lives. Yet,
Jesus commanded them to go into the boat alone while
He went up to the mountain and prayed.

I believe that Jesus knows about all the storms in my
life. He knew what I would be facing and yet it was
important for me to weather the storms. I became a
better woman from the storms and each time I am in a
storm, I learn to depend on Him and He always rescues
me. He is still in control. That is one of the most
comforting thoughts to know that He is still in
control.

Now, let's go back to one of the keys to success. How
can we have success in everything that we do?

[Romans 10:17] So then faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God. NKJV

Greek: ’rematos cristos rhematos christos

My pastor says that the original Greek has no commas,
so this verse can be read as: "Faith comes by hearing
and hearing of the rhema of Christ."

This is a great revelation for me. It is not good
enough to hear the Word of God. We've got to hear it
again and again. It can be the same verse, or the same
message, but we've got to continue hearing and hearing
His Word. I used to be a Christian tape junkie and
would listen to lots of Christian messages in my car.
Then I stopped because I exhausted almost every good
tape in my church library. After receiving this
message on "hearing and hearing", I decided to start
again on my hobby :P

I want to have enduring success and plant myself by
rivers of living water. Delighting, meditating and
hearing His Word is a simple, accessible and powerful
key to use!
