Prayer Email archive: (06/01/2000) not breaking the hedge |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: not breaking the hedge [Ecclesiastes 10:8] He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. There is a hedge of protection round about us and I believe that God protects us. But there are also dangers all around and as active participants in our lives, we need to protect that hedge and not break it. How do we break that hedge? [Galatians 6:7-8] 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. We need to sow into our lives things of the Spirit, because of the Spirit, we shall reap everlasting life. If we sow things of the flesh into our lives, we reap destruction. I just heard a message on this verse last week and the speaker emphasized the words: "Do not be deceived". Many times, we deceive ourselves and maybe we think we can deceive God by going on with some of our ways. But God is not deceived and neither should we go on deceiving ourselves. We reap what we sow. One of the things also about praying for healing is that we need to walk in the ways of God. I remember hearing a message about this pastor who visited another church and made an altar call for people who need healing. The first night, a woman came out for healing and God healed her. The next night, the woman came out for healing again because her sickness has returned. The pastor prayed for her again and again she was healed. The third night, she came out for healing again and the pastor asked an elder in the local church to bring the woman's husband who was next to her so that he could talk to the husband. The elder said that the man was not her husband and the woman has been living in adultery with this man. We should not be deceived. God desires to heal us and to give us abundant life, but we need to walk in it. I'm not saying that people do not get healed because they have sinned (there are many reasons, sometimes it is waiting on God's timing or for other reasons). I am saying that we need to understand the spiritual laws and not deceive ourselves. Repent of our sins and come before God and seek His ways. There lies the keys to abundant and everlasting life. 2. New prayer requests: i. Pray for Roger's father -- waihun Please pray for Roger's father. He is one of our prayer warriors, rtkm, and his father, Tan Sue Yong, has been missing for 7 days. He left home at 2:30 pm on 23rd May 2000 and has not returned. He is 83 years old and still physically fit except that he is suffering from senile dementia and Alzheimer. Roger has already lodged a police report and they have been searching for him without any success. Please pray for a successful rescue operation and that the angels of God will protect him and keep him safe and for Roger too. Pray for his mother who is not a Christian and has been consulting mediums since his father went missing.
